Surface: Loose gravel over some sand
Turning left off Bottom Sharples, you are now on Gravel 520. You'll have a steep, but short climb out of the creek bed. The views will expand immensely and in front of you seems to be a forgotten valley. This is the premier rolling ranchlands of Southern Alberta, and very little has changed here in 140 years. You are entering a true Range.
You'll see the larger Porcupine Hills to the west, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the southern Canadian Rocky Mountains. The surface is well maintained, often laid with fresh aggregate. Stones are round quarter sized gravel over fine sand.
Depending on the conditions, it may require more power here to maintain speed. After rollers and sweeping turns, you'll exit Gravel 520 on to Burke Creek Ranch Road.
